About the attorney

Inna Bimits

Inna Bimits has practiced law in California since 2000 and focuses her practice exclusively on workers' compensation. She knows how insurance carriers build their cases, how medical-legal evaluations shape a claim's value, and how to guide an injured worker through a system that was never designed to be easy.

After years of representing injured workers with an established Bay Area firm, she founded Inna Bimits Law to give every client the same thing: an experienced attorney who knows their file, returns their calls, and fights for every benefit the law provides.

She earned her law degree from Southwestern Law School and her bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge. She is a member of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

How I help

Representation at every stage of your claim

Workers' compensation is supposed to protect you. When the insurance company delays, denies, or undervalues your claim, you need someone on your side who knows the system.

Workplace injuries

Falls, lifting injuries, vehicle accidents on the job, machinery accidents, and other sudden injuries at work.

Cumulative trauma

Injuries that develop over time from repetitive work, such as back, neck, shoulder, knee, and carpal tunnel conditions.

Denied & delayed claims

Challenging claim denials, stalled benefits, and treatment requests the insurer refused through utilization review.

Medical-legal evaluations

Preparing you for QME and AME evaluations, which often decide what your case is worth.

Permanent disability

Making sure your permanent impairment is rated fully and correctly so your award reflects your real losses.

Settlements & hearings

Negotiating a fair settlement, or taking your case before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board when needed.

The process

What happens after you call

Free review

We talk through what happened, your medical care, and where your claim stands. There is no cost and no obligation.

We take over

Once you hire the firm, the insurance company deals with us, not you. We file what needs to be filed and protect your deadlines.

Build the case

We gather records, work toward the medical treatment you need, and prepare you for every evaluation.

Resolve it

We pursue a fair settlement or award and explain every option so you can decide with confidence.

Know your rights

Benefits you may be entitled to

California workers' compensation is a no-fault system. In most cases you do not have to prove your employer did anything wrong, only that you were injured because of your work.

Read the workers' comp guide

  • Medical care: treatment reasonably required to cure or relieve the effects of your injury.
  • Temporary disability: wage-replacement payments while you are unable to work during recovery.
  • Permanent disability: compensation if your injury leaves lasting limitations.
  • Supplemental job displacement benefit: a voucher for retraining if you cannot return to your job (for eligible injuries).
  • Death benefits: support for the dependents of a worker who dies from a work injury.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire a workers' compensation attorney?

Nothing up front. Attorney fees in California workers' compensation cases are paid as a percentage of your recovery and must be approved by a workers' compensation judge. If you do not recover benefits, you do not owe an attorney fee.

How soon do I need to report my injury?

Report it to your employer as soon as possible. California law generally requires notice within 30 days of the injury. Waiting can put your benefits at risk, so don't delay even if the injury seems minor.

My claim was denied. Is it too late?

Not necessarily. Denials can be challenged, and many denied claims are ultimately accepted. Deadlines apply, so contact an attorney promptly to review your options.

Can my employer fire me for filing a claim?

California law prohibits employers from discriminating or retaliating against employees because they filed a workers' compensation claim. If you believe this has happened to you, tell your attorney right away.

Do I need a lawyer, or can I handle my claim myself?

You are allowed to handle your own claim, but the insurance company has professionals protecting its interests. An experienced attorney can help you avoid mistakes with medical evaluations, deadlines, and settlement terms that are difficult or impossible to undo.
